Spring 2009

Alma Guillermoprieto
"Reflections on Latin America: Central America, Colombia & Venezuela"

The seminar will be held on Tuesdays, from 4-6 PM in the Center for Latin American Studies Conference Room (2334 Bowditch Street). Due to Spring Break, there will be no seminar on 24 March. As the seminar is for no credit, reading and assignments will be light. Attendance will be limited to 20 students.

To apply for the seminar please send (e-mail preferred) a 1-page document with your name, e-mail address, department/degree program, year in department/degree program and a paragraph detailing your qualifications, how your interests relate to this seminar, what you seek to get out of the class, what you would contribute to the class, etc. Please do not write more than a page. Please send this to jsullivan (at) berkeley.edu no later than 12:00 pm Friday, March 6. We will try to notify students of our decision by noon on Tuesday, March 9.

Finally, we ask that applying students take this opportunity seriously. While we understand that making a no-credit seminar a priority may be challenging, we hope that you will commit to attending and being prepared for every session of the course. If you cannot attend every session, please do not apply.
